Defining the Blueprint of a Green Move

Recommendations for GM stakeholders

The exercise of defining the “Blueprint of a Green Move” is part of the Coalition for Greener Mobility’s quest to define what sustainability means in the context of global mobility, in very practical terms. The main purpose of this project is to define a common sustainability framework for all global mobility stakeholders, to set common targets and combine our efforts to work towards a more sustainable way of doing business.

Within this context, the “Blueprint of a Green Move” working group came together to identify the most environmentally friendly way of performing an international move. The working group consists of representatives of the international moving industry, representing different geographical regions, business types and company sizes. Their main tasks were:

  • to identify environmentally friendly options for each step of an international move;

  • to define sustainability guidelines for specific areas of household goods (HHGs) moves, such as packaging, carbon measurement, and trucking;

  • to share recommendations on how the international moving industry as a whole can work towards a more sustainable way of doing business.

The outcome of this first exercise is this “recommendations for international moving stakeholders” document, which alongside the “Blueprint of a Green Move” infographic is meant to be a useful tool to help individual companies, as well as the global mobility industry as a whole, in their sustainability journey.
