The Coalition of Greener Mobility’s focus is to help coordinate and drive efforts in the global mobility industry toward doing business more sustainably.
Here are the Coalition’s fundamental objectives:
Objective 1: Promote a common understanding of good practices and actions to improve sustainable outcomes across the mobility industry, by:
Defining sustainability in global mobility;
Developing blueprints and guidelines for each industry sector.
Objective 2: Facilitate learning, collaboration, and improved sustainability practices in the management of global mobility, by:
Gathering and developing learning material and tools for global mobility stakeholders;
Facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices between global mobility stakeholders;
Creating a space of collaboration between global mobility stakeholders to drive greater sustainability in our industry.
Objective 3: Provide the mobility community with the tools to help improve transparency on environmental sustainability, by:
Driving greater coordination of sustainability topics in RFP and procurement processes;
Driving greater coordination of industry-relevant sustainability standards and certification.
Objective 4: Facilitate meaningful measurements that track and report on environmental sustainability progress, by:
Driving greater coordination of CO2 measurement and reporting throughout the global mobility industry.
Defining thematic tracks and working groups
Following the presentation of the Coalition roadmap, a series of short-term priorities for the Coalition were identified, namely:
- Fomenting greater education and awareness around sustainability across the global mobility industry;
- Defining common definitions and identifying references on the topic of corporate sustainability for the global mobility industry;
- Defining common 'approaches' on how to measure and report carbon emissions.
- Streamlining the RFP & RFI process with regards to sustainability requirements across the global mobility value chain.
To progress in these priority areas, the Coalition identified six main tracks for working groups to help identify moving forward together. These groups of volunteer members and external experts will work on specific tasks related to a track. The results of one working group may lead to the identification of new tasks/ projects and thus the creation of new working groups.
Main tracks & working groups
Track 1: Defining “Greener Mobility” (linked to Objective 1)
Track 2: Education & awareness (linked to Objective 2)
Track 3: Certifications & standards (linked to Objective 3)
Track 4: CO2 measurement & reporting (linked to Objective 4)
Track 5: Coalition governance
Track 6: Social equity in Global Mobility (linked to Objective 1)
Call-to-action: join the working groups.
The Coalition is actively looking for individuals, active in the global mobility space, to join the working groups. It is not necessary to have extensive knowledge of sustainability issues; candidates will be asked to commit their time to the working groups and actively participate in the group meetings and identified tasks.
